The Amsterdam-based Trio Galantes specializes in the big hits of Latin American music from the forties and fifties. The group was founded in 2017 by three classically trained musicians – Álvaro Pinto Lyon (Chile), Humberto Albores Martínez (Mexico) and Augusto Valença (Brazil) – who share a passion for the rich legacy of the great Latin American composers. They play boleros and ballads, stirring Mexican huapangos, swinging bossa nova and Cuban son, in the style of the so-called trío romántico: lyrical polyphonic singing accompanied by guitar and the characteristic sound of the Mexican requinto guitar.
